The Sons of Congo is a program through Africa New Day (africanewday.org) dedicated to changing the culture of masculinity in the Congo (DRC). Under the leadership of Camille and Esther Ntoto they began to work with one Congolese man in 2011 knowing that the culture of masculinity in Congo had to change. Since 2011 53,000 Congolese men have graduated from the 17 week Biblically based curriculum that The Sons of Congo have developed.

They have targeted the source of the problem . . . . a wounded masculinity for the majority of men along with:

  • a culture of impunity
  • women have little value
  • abuse is rampant
  • rape is tolerated
  • children are born and men take little responsibility

Once the men have graduated from The Sons of Congo’s transformational curriculum, they are then required to start their own group. When they complete that assignment that is when they receive their Certificate of Completion from The Sons of Congo!

A transformational paradigm shift is occurring in Congo. Men are becoming protectors of women rather than being perpetrators of women. They are learning what it means to be a servant leader. Men are the one’s who will change the culture as they begin to give value to the women in their lives.
